Boots of Spanish Leather ~ Unknown. Filk from Bob Dylan

"Boots Of Spanish Leather"

Oh I'm sailin' away my own true love
I'm sailin' away in the morning
Is there something I can send you from across the sea
From the place that I'll be landing ?

No, there's nothin' you can send me, my own true love
There's nothin' I wish to be ownin'
Just carry yourself back to me unspoiled
From across that lonesome ocean.

Oh, but I just thought you might want something fine
Made of silver or of golden
Either from the Frozen Mountain
Or from the coast of Eisenmarchen?

Oh, but if I had
And the diamonds from the deepest ocean
I'd forsake them all for your sweet kiss
For that's all I'm wishin' to be ownin'.

That I might be gone a long time
And it's only that I'm askin'
Is there something I can send you to remember me by
To make your time more easy passin' ?

Oh, how can, how can you ask me again
It only brings me sorrow
The same thing I want from you today
I would want again tomorrow.

I got a letter on a lonesome day
It was from her ship a-sailin'
Saying I don't know when I'll be comin' back again
It depends on how I'm a-feelin'.

Well, if you, my love, must think that-a-way
I'm sure your mind is roarmin'
I'm sure your thoughts are not with me
But with the country to where you're goin'.

So take heed, take heed of the western wind
Take heed of the stormy weather
And yes, there's something you can send back to me
Spanish boots of Spanish leather.

Duct-Tape ~ Unknown,

What binds up Knights,
so they can fight,
everyone knows it's Duct-Tape!

To the tune of Plato commercial.

Frog Kissing ~ Kermit

Do you remember in the fairy tale how the wicked witch's spell changed the handsome prince to a toad,
Through the power of a potion, she handed him a notion, he was lower than the dirt in the road,And though she left him green and warted, her evil paln was thwarted when the chance to happen by a young miss,Who in spite of his complexion, offered her affection and broke the wicked curse with her kiss.
ChorusIf you've never been a frog kissin', then you don't know what you've been missin',There's a world of opportunity under each and every log.If you've never been a charm breaker and if you've never been a handsome prince maker,Just slow down, turn around, bend down and kiss you a frog.

There's a happy ever after land deep in the heart of man where a prince or princess abide,But all the good are glimpses of the handsome prince or princess 'cause their covered by a green warty hide,And though their full of life's potential, they're lackin' one essential to enable them to shine like a star, And that's to have some guy or missus smother them with kisses and love 'em just like they are.And that's the secret of frog kissin', and you can do it too if you'll just listen.Just slow down, turn around, bend down and kiss you a frog! Ribet! Ribet!

The Warrior's Lement ~ Bryntyeach MacQuarrie

Warrior's Lament

I looked upon the empty field and flickering lights below.
Ten thousand silhouettes or more 'gainst a backlit fire glow.
I knew that with the rays of dawn the tranquil peace would fly.
And in the morninglight would sound a desperate battlecry.

We numbered just two hundred score - odds slim to say the least.
But each of us down to the man already made his peace.
We armoured up with grim resolve, all knowing we may die.
We never shied away from fate, our prayers filled the skies.

With backs all turned towards our camp, we formed a mighty ring.
Atop the hill we made our stand, our voices raised to sing.
While stone and cliff stood at our flank, we gazed upon our foe
And waited there for them to come - the blood was soon to flow.

As one they breached upon our ranks, as waves upon the shore.
And as we stood against their push, we showed what was in store.
For this would prove no easy task, our shieldwall stood as one.
In shadowed recess of the cliff, the Valkyries had come.

Thus in a tangled mass of limbs and weapons stained with red
Comingled cries of rage and pain, and silence of the dead
We fought from dawn 'til nearly dusk, before they called retreat
To draw back from the war we waged to rest and for to feast.

We had lost nearly two thousand men, all strewn upon the ground.
And as I gazed upon them there who lay without a sound
Our weary warriors bent their backs all to the tasks of war
I looked upon the fires below and whisper now, "No more..."

I swiftly formulate a plan to end it once for all
We set the fires, prop up the dead as shadows on the wall
And in the cover of the night we quietly descend
Upon the unsuspecting camp, to make our final stand

In dark and silence we await as laughter starts to fade
And weary soldiers go to bed, on pillows heads are laid
And in the stillness of the camp we sound our victory horn
Descending as ten thousand fiends, as though from hell were born

And as the sunlight starts to dawn, cast light upon the camp
The crimson battleground alights, the soil turned red and damp
And in the carnage of the war, scant few of us remain
Me and three hundred of my kin, our vict'ry won in vain.

There with You ~ Bryntyeach MacQuarrie

There With You

A knight met a maiden on a late night stroll
And little did he know it then but her heart he stole
They walked round the lake and before the night was through
She looked him in the eyes and said 'I don't want to leave you'
And he said,

'You'll never leave me. You're here in my soul
And I'll never feel lonely for you make me whole
When you miss me, whisper my name, and I'll be there with you
No matter the distance know this: Together we'll pull through.'

The days passed and they fell in love and were soon to wed
But war began and he had to go fight for his King instead
The day he was due to leave he told her 'I don't want to go'
As she held him in her arms she told him what he head to know
And she sang,

'You'll never leave me. You're here in my soul
And please never feel lonely for you make me whole
When you miss me, whisper my name, and I'll be there with you
No matter the distance know this: Together we'll pull through.'

The days turned into months and the seasons did change
And the more that she thought of him she got a feeling quite strange
The army stopped in for supplies before they marched off again
He saw her before he left and gave his oath in front of his men
And he swore,

'You'll never leave me. You're here in my soul
And I'll never feel lonely for you make me whole
When you miss me, whisper my name, and I'll be there with you
No matter the distance know this: Together we'll pull through.'

She waited for his return but knew something wasn't right
When she got word of his death she thought back to that night
She shed tears and thought of him and remembered his words
She took a walk out in the morn and sang louder than the birds
And she cried,

'You'll never leave me. You're here in my soul
And I'll never feel lonely for you make me whole
When I miss you, I'll whisper your name, and you'll be here with me
No matter the distance know this: You set my heart free.'

She never forgot him and remembered his touch
But at times her feelings became far too much
One day she spoke of how she missed him and gently whispered his name
She heard the wind carry his voice and his vow was the same
And he breathed,

'I'll never leave you. I'm ever in your soul
And please never feel lonely for you made me whole
When you miss me, whisper my name, and I'll be there with you
And despite the distance know this: You'll see me when you're through.

When you miss me, just whisper my name and I'll be next to you
And despite the distance know this: You'll see me when you're through.'

Lizard Dreams

Deep within the Pelagir hills, where the land is thick with magic
There lived a lizard named Gervaise whose life was rather tragic
For he had kindness, wit, and speech, and he longed to be a Wizard
But who would ever think to teach high magic to a lizard?

So poor Gervaise would sit and dream, or sigh there sadly ruing
The Fate that kept him ever from the good he could be doing
One day as he sat dreaming there all in the forest sunning
He heard the noise of horse and hound and sounds of two feet running
A human stumbled into his glade, a human worn and weary
Dressed in the shreds of a Wizards robe his eyes past hope and dreary

The Magic of his birthplace gave Gervaise the gift of speaking
So he hesitated not at all, but ran to the human squeaking
"Hide Human Hide! Hide in my tree" He danced and pointed madly
The Wizard stared, the Wizard gasped, and hid himself right gladly
Gervaise laid down at once in the sun until the hunt came nigh him
And like a simple lizard fled as panic seemed to try him
He glowered in his hollow tree and when they came to near him
He bit the dogs upon the nose until they learned to fear him

"Damn that Wizard" the hunter snarled "He slipped our tracking neatly
the hounds have clearly been misled." "They've lost the trail completely."
He whipped the dogs away from the tree and sent them homeward running
Never guessing he'd been tricked by a clever lizards cunning
The Wizard out of hiding crept, saying "Much thanks i accord you! Is
there some gift within my power with which i can reward you?"
"I want to be a man like you!" Gervaise cried out unthinking
"A Wizard or a man?" replied the mage who stood unblinking

"For i can grant you only one the form of man or power"
"Whichever one choose swiftly, I must leave within the hour"
Gervaise thought quickly who would except a mage who was a lizard
but still he knew his dream had come true he chose to be a Wizard

Now in the counsels of the wise there sits a welcome stranger
His word is sought by high and low when there is need or danger
He gives his help to all in need and pledges to defend them
And every helpless creature knows he lives but to defend them
Now no one cares what form he wears human, man, or lizard
Beloved by all both great and small is Gervaise the Lizard Wizard

Snow Beast

Children playing in the snow
Further out than they should go,
Saw a stranger walking near --
Never stopped to think or fear.

Hair like snow, eyes that gleam,
Things aren't always what they seem.
Teeth too long, hands too thin --
Always look beneath the skin!

Greetings children, the woman said,
It's so cold, I'm chilled near dead,
Where's your camp and family, too?
Won't you take me home with you?

Hair like snow, eyes that gleam,
Things aren't always what they seem.
Teeth too long, hands too thin --
Always look beneath the skin!

Long white hair and eyes like ice,
She spoke so fair she seemed so nice;
Foolish children did not ask,
Why she set them such a task.

Hair like snow, eyes that gleam,
Things aren't always what they seem.
Teeth too long, hands too thin --
Always look beneath the skin!

They did not wait to find a guard,
They led her straight to their own yard.
They did not think to ask their kin,
They brought her home and let her in.

Hair like snow, eyes that gleam,
Things aren't always what they seem.
Teeth too long, hands too thin --
Always look beneath the skin!

And when she was well hid inside,
Then she cast off her human hide.
Her fangs grew long, her claws sprang free --
A hungry fierce snow beast was she!

Hair like snow, eyes that gleam,
Things aren't always what they seem.
Teeth too long, hands too thin --
Always look beneath the skin!

And all that night through every tent
She stalked and slaughtered as she went.
When the sun raised up his head,
Half of all that tribe lay dead.

Hair like snow, eyes that gleam,
Things aren't always what they seem.
Teeth too long, hands too thin --
Always look beneath the skin!

For pretty words and pretty whiles
And pretty looks and pretty smiles --
Those folks where slain and scattered all,
Because they let their caution fall.

Hair like snow, eyes that gleam,
Things aren't always what they seem.
Teeth too long, hands too thin --
Always look beneath the skin!
Always look beneath the skin!
